Mr. Farhat has stated on social media that he has bees at two locations Crums Mill Road and one on Fishing Creek Valley Road however he also states he engages in pollination contracts as part of his business (see fig 1). Given this information, we find concern that they honey sold at Honey Hut may be from anywhere in pennsylvania or beyond.
Packaging, labels, and correct licences are expensive. By not following state law, it is likely Fares Farhat sees a significant reduction in overhead operational costs which compliant beekeepers regularly incur. See Refusal to Follow PA state Law for more info.
Fares Farhat operates his Honey Huts on a franchise bases. Honey hut as at 10+ stands in high traffic locations in the greater Harrisburg area. Each stand operates under an agreement with each property owner allowing Mr. Farhat to place and operate his stands on their property. (See May Not be Local for more info) We do not have first hand information regarding the details of these agreements, however an anonymous source has indicated one such agreement was the homeowner stocks and maintains the stand in return for honey.
