Off farm honey is required to be correctly labeled. At each known honey hut location we visited, we noted each product lacked the required label. Below are images taken during the summer of 2015. The Lack of labels appears to be a violation of PA state law. (see below for summary of PA state law regarding sale of honey)

has been informed many times by other local beekeepers he is in violation of PA state law, and continues to refuse to add lables to his product. (See Fig 5-8)

In Pennsylvania, honey can be sold via two avenues, On Farm and Off farm.
There are no requirements for honey sold "On Farm", meaning honey produced, packaged, and sold at the same location. For example, a beekeeper with a few hives in their backyard can legally package and sell their honey at a driveway stand without any labeling or food safety requirements.
Off Farm honey sales is any sale of honey at a location other than where it is produced and packaged. Below are the requirements per PA state law for off farm honey sales.
Have a PA state limited food establishment licence.
Be registered with the FDA
Affix labels to the product with at minimum of:
a. Statement of Identity – the common or usual name “honey” but if the food is a blend or a mixture of honey and another sweetener. Name must be sufficiently described on the label to distinguish it from simply “honey”
Name and address of Manufacturer/distributor.
Net Weight.
Ingredients list if product made from two or more ingredients (e.g. sugar, flavor, etc.)
